This dataset summary is available as machine-readable JSON β€” including provenance, columns, key figures and a sample of rows β€” for use by researchers, journalists and AI assistants.

Methodology

Rows are taken directly from the ONS life-expectancy-by-local-authority release and the Health state life expectancies (Healthy life expectancy) release. Life expectancy at birth uses the 2017-19 reference period; healthy life expectancy, where present, uses 2022-24. No figures are modelled or interpolated.
