How to Book Your First GeraClinic Consultation β€” Step-by-Step

Medical disclaimer. This guide explains how to use the platform; it is not medical advice. For emergencies, call your local emergency services immediately.
Quick answer. Create an account, pick a doctor by speciality and language, pick a slot, pay in your local currency, prepare a short list of symptoms and medications, join the video call on time. Most first-time patients book and consult within 24 hours.

Step 1: Create Your Account

Sign up at geraclinic.com with your phone number and email. Add your date of birth, country, preferred language, and an emergency contact. Basic sign-up takes under two minutes.

Step 2: Pick the Right Doctor

Filter by speciality (general practice, mental health, paediatrics, dermatology, etc.), language, country, and next available slot. Doctor profiles include qualifications, years of experience, patient-experience ratings (calculated over a meaningful sample of past consultations), and the languages they practise in.

If you are unsure which speciality you need, start with general practice. A GP will triage and refer you to a specialist where appropriate.

Step 3: Pick a Slot

Slots show in your local timezone. Video, phone, or chat are all offered; video is usually the most useful for the doctor, phone works when your data is patchy, chat is for asynchronous follow-ups.

Step 4: Pay

Pricing is displayed in your local currency. Payment options include Visa, Mastercard, local cards, GeraCash, and country-specific rails (Idram in Armenia, M-Pesa in Kenya, UPI in India, PIX in Brazil). Booking is confirmed immediately on successful payment.

Step 5: Prepare

A good consultation starts before you join the call. Have ready:

  • A concise description of your main symptom and when it started.
  • Any other symptoms (even ones you are unsure are related).
  • A list of current medications, doses, and frequency.
  • Allergies, especially drug allergies.
  • Relevant past medical history (chronic conditions, surgeries).
  • Temperature, pulse, and blood pressure if you have a cuff at home.
  • Good lighting, a charged device, and headphones.

Step 6: The Consultation

The doctor joins on time. They ask questions, examine you visually, and agree a plan β€” treatment, prescription, referral, further investigation, or watchful waiting. A typical video consultation runs 10–20 minutes.

Step 7: After the Consultation

  • A written summary lands in your account within minutes.
  • E-prescriptions (where applicable) are sent directly to your chosen pharmacy.
  • Referral letters are added to your record as PDF.
  • Follow-up consultations can be booked from the summary page.

Common Pitfalls

  • Joining late β€” doctors run tight schedules; being 5 minutes late can mean rescheduling.
  • Trying to describe a skin condition without showing it to the camera in good lighting.
  • Forgetting to mention other medications β€” always tell the doctor everything you take.
  • Using the wrong platform for an emergency. GeraClinic is not for emergencies; call local emergency services for chest pain, breathing difficulty, suspected stroke, major trauma, or suicidal crisis.
