GeraClinic in the UK 2026 — CQC, GMC and the NHS Wait-Time Gap

In April 2026, NHS England reported that 3 in 10 adults waited more than two weeks for a non-urgent GP appointment. In rural parts of Wales, Cornwall and the Scottish Highlands the gap is longer. The UK regulatory stack

Any company offering medical consultations to UK patients must operate within a specific regulatory perimeter. We meet each requirement:

• GMC registration (General Medical Council): every consulting doctor on GeraClinic holds a licence to practise on the GMC register. You can verify any doctor by their GMC number at gmc-uk.org.
• CQC framework (Care Quality Commission): digital primary-care providers operating in England are inspected against the CQC's five key questions — safe, effective, caring, responsive, well-led. Scotland (Healthcare Improvement Scotland), Wales (HIW) and Northern Ireland (RQIA) have equivalent bodies.
• UK GDPR & ICO registration: patient data is processed under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. GeraClinic is registered as a data controller with the Information Commissioner's Office.
• MHRA-regulated prescribing: private prescriptions are issued under the Human Medicines Regulations 2012 and can be dispensed at any UK pharmacy (Boots, Lloyds, Well, Superdrug, independents).

Prices include UK VAT where applicable. Prescription dispensing fees charged by your chosen pharmacy are separate and typically £9.90 for a private FP10 equivalent.
